IS 875 Code to Calculate Load (PDF Download)

Posted on January 10, 2020July 5, 2025 by admin

Beauro of Indian standards has designed IS 875-1987 to ascertain the different loads on the structure other than earthquake loads. IS 875 code is very comprehensive and divided into 5 parts. The description and download link of each of the codes are given below.

  • IS 875 (part-1) 1987
The first part of IS 875-1987 is to calculate dead loads. In this code unit weights of different building materials are specified.
  • IS 875 (part-2) 1987
This second part gives data about the imposed load on buildings.
  • IS 875 (part-3) 1987
This part is stipulated for the wind load acting on buildings.
  • IS 875 (part-4) 1987
In this part, calculations for snow load is stipulated.
  • IS 875 (part-5) 1987
In this concise part, how to choose the load combination is given.

The latest code on wind load was reaffirmed in 2015. The major change in IS 875(part 3) 2015 is the introduction of wind speed modification factor k4, which is an important factor for the cyclonic region.
